<description>Pictures Sounds Numbers Words&#8230; Teaching and Learning with Technology was an online conference that took place from May 4-7, 2009. It was an invitation to participate in an innovative and exciting opportunity to connect with other educators interested in teaching and learning with technology.

Completely online, this conference featured former Governor of Maine Angus King as the keynote speaker, and highlighted 27 engaging and inspiring workshop sessions conducted by, and for, educational professionals interested in teaching and learning with technology. During his Keynote presentation, Governor King shared his thoughts on teaching and learning and how they can both be positively impacted by the infusion of technology into the classroom.

Using web-based technologies to communicate and collaborate, this event was for educators interested in engaging in conversation around teaching and learning with technology, and offered an opportunity for sharing and discussing examples of best practice using technology to creatively teach and inspire.

The event provided an opportunity to participate interactively in a live virtual environment&#8230; all right from the comfort of your own computer desktop. All conference workshops were held online using Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro, and featured sessions during which participants interacted and shared ideas with both presenters and peers. Every workshop was recorded and has been made available for viewing - to view recordings of all of the workshop sessions, go to: [MLTIOLC Website](http://mltiolc.wordpress.com/workshop-schedule/) &#8211; so that you won&#8217;t miss any of the sessions. You can still join in on the conversations on the [MLTIOLC Blog](http://mltiolc.wordpress.com), and workshop presenter resources have been made available for download.

    <description>[Professional Development Wiki](http://teacherpd4tech.wikispaces.com/)

(Sent to MICDL by Sarah Sutter)

This link will take you to a wiki designed to help teachers of all grade levels K-20, and all abilities with technology to find professional development opportunities. This &quot;self service&quot; model will guide you through options based on your learning preferences and specific needs for types of information. While it is an ongoing project by necessity (nothing is every completely comprehensive these days - things change daily!), I hope you will take a look and find something that will work in your own journey of learning about and integrating technology into your educational practice.

    <description>[Earth Exploration Toolbook](http://serc.carleton.edu/eet/index.html)

(From the MaineLearns Archives)

Here is collection of on-line resources and professional development opportunities for science teachers interested in [using data in the classroom] (http://serc.carleton.edu/usingdata/index.html) and [teaching with data, models, and simulations] (http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/data_models/index.html).

The Earth Exploration Toolbook is a collection of computer-based Earth science activities that introduces one or more data sets, and an analysis tool that enables users to explore some aspect of the Earth system.

Step-by-step instructions in each chapter walk users through an example &#8212; a case study in which they access data and use analysis tools to explore issues or concepts in Earth system science. In the course of completing a chapter, users produce and analyze maps, graphs, images, or other data products. The ultimate goal of each activity is to build user's skills and confidence so they can use data to conduct their own investigations of the Earth system.
