(From the MaineLearns Archives)

Here is collection of on-line resources and professional development opportunities for science teachers interested in [using data in the classroom] (http://serc.carleton.edu/usingdata/index.html) and [teaching with data, models, and simulations] (http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/data_models/index.html).

The Earth Exploration Toolbook is a collection of computer-based Earth science activities that introduces one or more data sets, and an analysis tool that enables users to explore some aspect of the Earth system.

Step-by-step instructions in each chapter walk users through an example &#8212; a case study in which they access data and use analysis tools to explore issues or concepts in Earth system science. In the course of completing a chapter, users produce and analyze maps, graphs, images, or other data products. The ultimate goal of each activity is to build user's skills and confidence so they can use data to conduct their own investigations of the Earth system.

    <description>From the MaineLearns Archives

In 2005 the Maine Learning Technology Initiative began a collaboration with eMINTS, the nationally recognized professional development program to realize the goal of transforming teaching using inquiry-based methods and strategies powered by technology. The MLTI/eMINTS effort seeks to help teachers at all levels to use technology in ways that change student engagement and student products through high-quality professional development and in-classroom support. The MLTI/eMINTS partnership brings professional development services to teachers across the state. Technology-rich-MLTI/eMINTS classrooms have been established in 60 classrooms located in 50 school districts and distributed across eight regions in the state. Trainer/mentors with extensive support from Missouri eMINTS program and MLTI integrators are providing professional development and support to the Maine teachers.

(from the MaineLearns Archives)

These documents are from the Technology Integration Leadership Meetings held on June 3 and June 5, 2005.

[Technology Integrator's Carousel Brainstorm](http://www.micdl.org/attachments/110) This document is the combined brainstorm effort of tech integrators at the Belfast and Portland meetings. Here are great ideas on Leadership, Communication, Group Learning Opportunities, Sharing the Load, and Just in Time Support.

[Software Integrator's Brainstorm - Belfast] (http://www.micdl.org/attachments/111) These are the notes Kelly took at our software integration brainstorming session. This was part of the Technology Integration Leadership meeting held in Belfast on June 3, 2005.

[Software Integrator's Brainstorm - Portland](http://www.micdl.org/attachments/112) These are the notes that Kelly took at our software integration brainstorming session. This was part of the Technology Integration Leadership meeting held in Portland on June 6, 2005.

[The Three Lenses](http://www.micdl.org/attachments/113) This Venn Diagram shows the 3 lenses through which we view tech integrators. It can be used as a worksheet to determine where your strengths lie or where an individual's entry point to technology may be.

[MLTI Software Integration Ideas](http://www.micdl.org/attachments/114)This worksheet is a graphic organizer for collecting ideas for how to use specific MLTI software to support curriculum.

    <description>The following resources are from the archives of Mainelearns.org.

The **MLTI visioning documents** from 2002 support the planning of change. The visioning documents also include an annotated agenda from an MLTI visioning meeting in 2002, and action planning document/ template.

The following is an excerpt from Laptop Transition Plan

_The transition from a traditional teaching model to the effective utilization of 1&#8211;to-1 laptop access for all learners in Maine&#8217;s middle schools recognizes that changing student practice is a core responsibility. To this end, we must realize that any school is a complex system, and that student practice cannot be changed independently of other system participants. This makes it clear that in order to change student practice, teacher practices must change, and in order for teacher practices to change, administrative practices must change, and community practices drive those administrative practices._

    <description>We have created a pair of videos on &quot;Getting Started in a 1-to-1 School&quot; that are designed for principals and other school leaders. The videos are each about 13 minutes long and feature former Governor Angus King and two Maine high school principals, Ted Hall of Yarmouth High School, Yarmouth, Maine, and Derek Pierce of Casco Bay High School, Portland, Maine. The videos were created specifically for high school leaders who don&#8217;t have much experience with 1-to-1, but others may find them very useful as well. They were created with support from the MLTI program at the Maine Department of Education. Captioned versions and transcripts will soon be available in the MLTI area on the iTunes U website.

Please take a look at the videos and engage with us in a conversation about teaching in a digital school. Please also see the companion video series elsewhere in this section of the MICDL website, &quot;Getting Started in a 1-to-1 Classroom.&quot;
